Myofunctional Therapy

  • In 2015 Sleep published a meta-analysis of 9 studies involving 120 patients which found that myofunctunctional therapy reduced sleep apnea severity by 50 percent in adults and 62 percent in children, with improvements in snoring, sleepiness and oxygen levels in adults. [Source]

Dronabinol – Man-made cannabis

  • In 2013 Frontiers in Psychiatry published a study in which 17 patients given 2.5 mg -10 mg dronabinol per day had significant improvements in sleep apnea after 3 weeks. [Source]

Modafinil

  • In 2016 The European Respiratory Journal published a meta-analysis of 10 studies involving 1,466 patients which found that modafinil and armodafinil improved daytime sleepiness associated with obstructive sleep apnea. [Source]

Obesity

  • In 2008 The American Surgeon published a study which found that 70 percent of overweight patients that were screened for weight loss surgery suffered from obstructive sleep apnea. For the most obese patients, the prevalence of sleep apnea rose to 95 percent. [Source]

Psoriasis association

  • In 2016 Sleep Medicine Reviews published a review of 33 studies which found that obstructive sleep apnea was present in between 36 to 81 percent of individuals affected by psoriasis compared to 2 to 4 percent of the general population. [Source]
