Piracetam

Tardivedyskinesia

  • In 2007 The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry published a double-blind, crossover trial in which 40 schizophrenic patients with tardive dyskinesia received either a placebo or 4800 mg/day piracetam per day along with their usual antipsychotic treatment for 4 weeks. Piracetam appeared to be effective in reducing symptoms tardive dyskinesia though the mechanism by which it works has not been identified. [Source]
