Caprylic Acid

Antibacterial properties

  • In 2008 Poultry Science published a review of 4 trials which found that low-dose supplementation with caprylic acid in chicken feed may diminish campylobacter colonization in young chickens.
  • In 2012 Poultry Science published a study which suggested that caprylic acid in feed could reduce salmonella colonization in broiler chickens.

Anti-candida

  • In 2012 Medical Myocology Journal published an animal study which found that a small amount of capric acid prevented oral candidiasis (a fungal infection) in a mouse model.
